her spirit still listens was inspired by a young marimba player and his dog: a yellow lab named Luckey. Luckey was a sweet, loving companion to her family. One of her favourite passtimes was relaxing underneath the marimba while her owner practiced. She enjoyed feeling the vibrations of the instrument and would fall asleep listening. This piece for solo marimba is a tribute to Luckey and all the cherished animal members of musical families, offering an opportunity to reflect and honour our loved ones.
